新鮮兄借個地方！Exile， why Halloween 要吃 pumpkin pie 呢？有驅鬼的作用嗎！可以做南瓜糖，作 Trick or Treat 用？Space
Pumpkin carving has been a Halloween tradition from Europe for over 100 years. But not everyone makes pumpkin pie on Halloween. A lot of people just carve it and throw it away. The big one I bought is more suitable for carving. I am going to buy a smaller one (15 pounds or so) for cooking. It's only 5 cents a pound this time of the year.
Wait...it should be 20 cents a pound.
新鮮兄再借個地方！Exile, I didn't know there was Halloween in Europe long before the american culture spreading all over by the Euro-americans after WWII.All I heard is/was the Guy Fawkes Day/ Night in England and when the british immigrants became ammericans they changed somehow into Halloween .....維基百科：Guy Fawkes In England, 5 November has variously been called Guy Fawkes Night, Guy Fawkes Day and Bonfire Night; the latter can be traced directly back to the original celebration of 5 November 1605. Bonfires were accompanied by fireworks from the 1650s onwards. Thanks for the info I shall do more research!Spacep.s. Enjoy your halloween activities.
Halloween was brought here by European immigrants. More on pumpkin carving?"People have been making jack o'lanterns at Halloween for centuries. The practice originated from an Irish myth about a man nicknamed "Stingy Jack."In Ireland and Scotland, people began to make their own versions of Jack's lanterns by carving scary faces into turnips or potatoes and placing them into windows or near doors to frighten away Stingy Jack and other wandering evil spirits. In England, large beets are used. Immigrants from these countries brought the jack o'lantern tradition with them when they came to the United States. They soon found that pumpkins, a fruit native to America, make perfect jack o'lanterns."
